A Fox in the Henhouse, 2026 Set Design by Phoebe Fischer. This set was created for the protagonist Russel Reynard's home. Russel Reynard, a small-town midwestern auctioneer, lives alone in a midcentury bachelor pad. When he betrays the trust of a local chicken collector, she pulls a series of elaborate pranks on him, including filling his home with hay. To create this set, we used 50 lbs of real hay, faux hay carpeting and faux hay bales, and real eggs to create an overwhelming barnyard atmosphere within the ironic confines of Russel's wood-paneled living room. Myla Pitzer and Sam Thornton, 2026). When Russel betrays the trust of a local chicken collector, she pulls a series of elaborate pranks on him, including filling his bed with feathers. We designed Russel's home with a warm autumnal palette to hint at his role as the fox. We distributed over 300 down feathers under the comforter, then used a leaf blower to create the feather explosion effect. Additional Set Dressing by Dylan Coty and Isabel Nerpouni.

Russel is a small-town auctioneer who uses his workshop to forge an antique porcelain chicken. We created this set in the basement of a sorority house, adding paint cans, ladders, hanging peg boards, and tools around the space to make it feel lived-in, rustic, and midcentury. Designed as a counterpoint to the small town auction house where Russel usually works, we chose a rich, deep, cold color palette to set this world apart from the warm, faded town, and worked in opulent, heavy textiles like linen and velvet to contrast with the gingham, burlap, wood, and brown paper characterizing the small town sets.
